The Shawano Police Department is getting a new K-9 for free.
The Crossroads Canine Rescue is donating the dog, training, and food, in honor of a fallen Wisconsin police officer.
Sean Dumais of Crossroads says they’re looking to honor former Everest Police Detective Jason Weiland. Weiland was killed in the line of duty, and he had a K-9 officer.
“Thor” is a German Shepard, and he’ll meet his new handler in Shawano on Thursday, before they leave for training. He should be on the streets this summer.
