A local Republican believes Iran deliberately tried not to kill any American soldiers during the attack on an Iraqi military base.
Congressman Mike Gallagher of Green Bay thinks Iran knew President Trump would respond, if there were direct hits.
He spent time on that base while he was on active duty, and he says he knows it well. Gallagher says he can’t prove his hypothesis right now, but he’s surprised Iran wouldn’t have been able to target more precisely.
No U.S. military members were hurt or killed in the rocket attack.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Madison hopes the situation will de-escalate. She thinks there’s still an opening for diplomacy.
