Some shops in downtown Appleton are using social media tonight to reach out to customers.
Many stores in the downtown are closed during the “safer at home” order, and Appleton Downtown Incorporated is trying to help with a special event. The business group will hold a “Virtual Shop Hop” on its Facebook page, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Spokeswoman Lynn Schemm says they’re going to post videos from 14 shops, and people can place orders online.
She says it’s a difficult time for many of them, and some have been connecting with customers on Facebook and getting orders that way. A number of stories are also able to take orders on their website.
