The number of people riding the bus in Appleton is down slightly during the day but showing an increase in the evening.
Numbers for the first six month of the year show a two-point-four-percent decrease during the day and a one-and-a-half percent increase evening.
Ron McDonald is the general manager at Valley Transit. He says they don’t line to see rider ship go down but feels an improving economy means people are using other forms of transportation.
He also feels a fare increase from a few years ago also turned people away.
McDonald says construction is also playing a role.
Valley Transit provides over one million rides a year and McDonald says over half of that is work related trips.
