Appleton is joining about 100 other cities in the state by becoming a “Bird City.”
Brian Lenz is the director of Bird City Wisconsin and says Appleton surpasses many other cities in the state with the criteria.
He says the city’s use of native plants makes Appleton stand out.
The city received two street signs, a flag, and a plaque after meeting the group’s standards.
