The Community Blood Center in Grand Chute is taking part in a national effort to collect blood for Hurricane Harvey victims.
The center’s Kristine Belanger says people in southeast Texas are focused on more basic needs than donating during the flood.
But she says the need for blood is still there, and local donors are already helping. She says they’ve sent 140 units of blood so far.
Belanger says anyone interested in donating should look at the Community Blood Center website or call to make an appointment.
