A report on women in northeast Wisconsin shows poverty rates are higher for women, across the board.
Becky Boulanger is the executive director of the Women’s Fund for the Fox Valley Region. She says the last rates they compared were from during the recession in 2009. She says because of that, they thought the situation would be much better now. But she says they didn’t see much of a change.
Boulanger says 26 percent of women between 18 and 24 are living below the federal poverty line.
The pay gap for women ranges between 72 cents on the dollar in Fond du Lac County, to 78 cents in Brown County.
