People who overdose on drugs will soon have a new recovery tool.
Thanks to a state grant, recovery coaches will be available in certain hospitals to help people through treatment.
Jessica Geschke is the program coordinator for Wisconsin Voices for Recovery. She says after someone is brought back to life using Narcan, they would bring in a coach to mentor them. She says that includes helping them develop and navigate a plan.
She says so far, eight non-profits throughout the state received grant money to get the program going.
Geschke says a Green Bay organization is working to put recovery coaches into Bellin Health. She says they’re also talking about bringing them to the Fox Valley.
