The state’s attorney general is creating a new human trafficking bureau and a local advocacy group is on board with it.
Sister Carol Haanen is with 5 Stones in Appleton. She says people are often surprised to hear that it’s happening in Wisconsin.
Attorney General Brad Schimel is assigning seven agents to the bureau. They’ll partner with local departments around the state.
The bureau will also include the state justice department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Bureau and Digital Forensic Unit.
