While Calumet County is putting a half-cent sales tax in place, there aren’t any plans right now to do the same in two neighboring counties.
Outagamie and Winnebago counties will be among six in the state that don’t have a county sales tax.
Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris last proposed a half-cent sales tax about a decade ago. He says some of the groups that opposed it in the past have approached him about adopting one as long as the money would go toward a specific thing. But Harris says nothing is in the works.
Calumet County’s tax will take effect April 1.
