The rain and flooding in June and July damaged crops in parts of northeast Wisconsin, and the federal government is offering to help.
The USDA made a disaster declaration in seven counties. They’re Calumet, Outagamie, Winnebago, Brown, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc and Sheboygan.
Tom Schneider of the Calumet County Farm Service Agency says they heard about problems with strawberries. He says about 30 percent of the crop in Calumet County was damaged. He says farmers could be eligible if 30 percent of any crop was affected.
Schneider says farmers can reach out to their county’s Farm Service Agency for more information.
