Businesses in the state are doing a little better not selling tobacco to minors.
The state Department of Health Services says a survey found just under six percent were busted this year. That’s down from just over seven percent last year.
Spokesman Spencer Straub says the trend from recent years was going in the opposite direction, so they’re happy to see a decline.
Straub says the three most common items that kids were able to buy were cigars or cigarillos, smokeless tobacco, and e-cigarettes. He says that’s a concern, because those products have different flavors that are marketed toward children.
