There will be a big school referendum on the April ballot in the Neenah district.
The school board signed off on a nearly $130 million question last night.
District spokesman Jim Strick says about $84 million would go toward a new middle school for seventh and eighth graders. Another $31 million would be used to make infrastructure upgrades at every elementary school.
Strick says they would also improve security at all schools and remodel the technical education area at the high school.
Strick says all of the district’s buildings are at least 50 years old, and Neenah hasn’t held a building referendum since 1995.
Property taxes could go up by $167 for every $100,000 in value, if voters approve the referendum.
After studying the district’s facilities, a consultant recommended options that would’ve cost at least $250 million.
