An outgoing lawmaker from northeast Wisconsin is joining the cabinet of Governor-elect Tony Evers.
Democratic Sen. Caleb Frostman of Sturgeon Bay will be the secretary of the Department of Workforce Development.
He won a special election in the 1st Senate district last summer, and lost his rematch with Republican Rep. Andre Jacque of De Pere in November.
Frostman was the head of the Door County Economic Development Corporation. He says he has experience in workforce development in urban and rural areas. He says he’s looking forward to harnessing the power of the state agency to help people get in the workforce and advance.
Frostman says it’s important for the state to win the war for talent by keeping young workers in the state.
Democratic Rep. Peter Barca of Kenosha will be the next secretary of the Department of Revenue.
A former Obama administration official will lead the Department of Health Services. She’s Andrea Palm, and she worked for the federal health and human services department.
Evers is currently the state superintendent of schools. His chief of staff, Emilie Amundson, will be the secretary of the Department of Children and Families. Assistant state superintendent Dawn Crim will take over the Department of Safety and Professional Services.
