An Appleton woman is on a mission to save lives, one golf course at a time.
She’s looking to equip every course with an AED, an automated external defibrillator.
Michele Schelble is a retired ICU nurse and her husband Tom is a retired doctor. They helped save a friend who had a heart attack at Irish Waters Golf Club in Kaukauna last July.
The Schelble’s and others performed CPR on the man until paramedics arrived about five minutes later.
That heart attack victim did survive and donated an AED to the golf course.
Schelble is working with Gold Cross Ambulance to raise money to put the life saving device at as many golf courses as they can.
