Kimberly is among the communities that’s losing its Shopko store, and a village official says it’s sad.
Administrator Dani Block says the store was a staple in the village for years. Kimberly is already redeveloping the former paper mill site nearby.
Block believes people would like to see some combination of a grocery store, pharmacy, and retail at the Shopko location. She says combined with the mill site, there are a lot of possibilities.
Kimberly lost a Pick ‘n Save store that was next door to Shopko almost three years ago. That building is being renovated into indoor storage units.
