Green Bay police officers are the first in Wisconsin to use technology to map out schools and they’re helping improve the national system.
ReadyOp collects floor plans of schools. Officers can see them, along with school cameras, through an app when they’re responding to something like a school shooting.
Commander Paul Ebel came up with a grid plan. He says if an officer doesn’t know where a room is, they can at least find the grid square and be within 100 feet of an incident.
Ebel went to the CEO of ReadyOp with the idea and it’s now being implemented at schools around the country. He thinks the technology is also useful at large events like at Lambeau Field on a game day.
