A downtown Appleton restaurant that closed for a month after a fire next door is open again.
Apollon shares a wall with Author’s Kitchen and Bar at the corner of Appleton and Washington streets.
Author’s caught fire March 13 and because of structural issues forced Apollon to close until yesterday.
Co-owner Craig Persha says he and staff watched their neighbor burn that night and wondered if the flames would destroy their building as well.
Persha isn’t sure how much money they lost.
Apollon sustained smoke and water damage but a firewall kept the flames from jumping between buildings.
In about two weeks the former Author’s building will be torn down.
