An expert from the DNR says high water along the Wolf River is helping people get a better view of the spawning sturgeon in some areas.
Fisheries Biologist Ryan Koenigs says people need to be careful. He says some areas where people are used to watching, are flooded out. He says at Bamboo Bend in Shiocton, half of the trail that leads to the river is under water.
He believes the best spot is the Sturgeon Trail in the New London area, on Highway X. He says they tagged nearly 125 fish at that spot yesterday morning, and about 15 at Bamboo Bend.
He says the water is also high at the Shawano Paper mill dam, off Oshkosh Road, and it will be hard for people to see the fish.
