A new audit is finding continuing problems at the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
The nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau is reporting only about 35 percent of required jobs had actually been created by recipients of tax credit and loans, through June of last year. The agency also could’ve required companies to repay $4 million.
More than $460,000 in job creation credits went to a company that actually lost 17 jobs.
The audit also faults WEDC for not consistently complying with state laws and its contracts, because it gave tax credits for jobs that were filled by people outside of Wisconsin.
