People won’t be able to walk their dogs without a leash in Fox Crossing anymore.
The village board decided to change the rules for when dogs and cats aren’t on their owner’s property.
Administrator Jeff Sturgill says in the past they didn’t have to be on a leash as long as the owners had them under their “immediate control.” He says the village board heard a number of complaints.
Sturgill says some dogs that weren’t on a leash would bother other dogs. The village doesn’t have a general requirement for how long leashes need to be. There is a specific six-foot leash rule for walking on trails.
