A Democrat from Green Bay wants to put a cap on how much people pay for insulin.
Senator Dave Hansen says he’s working on a bill with a $100 a month maximum co-pay. He says one vial with doses for about 30 days costs $340. He says putting a cap on it would keep prices reasonable and keep people alive.
Because of the cost Hansen says some people around the country are rationing their doses. His bill would also require the state’s insurance commissioner to investigate the pricing of insulin. He says it costs about 10 times as much for a vial in the U.S. than Canada.
