The Oshkosh Common Council narrowly defeats a measure that would have set a new transportation utility fee next year.
The five to four vote against the monthly fee means that property owners will have to continue to pay special assessments for concrete placement in street reconstruction projects.
The Oshkosh business community led the opposition to the transportation fee because some owners of multiple unit properties faced bills of several thousand dollars a month.
