All but two families in Suamico evacuated yesterday evening after a flash flood are back home.
The Brown County sheriff’s department says strong gusts of wind from the northeast forced water from the Door County area into the Bay of Green Bay and the Fox River causing water to quickly rise.
It also caused a large boat dock to break free, floating down the river.
It hit the Walnut and Main street bridges and was heading for a ship moored for the Tall Ship Festival.
The Coast Guard intercepted it.
The bridges weren’t damaged.
Flooding started around 7 p.m. and by 9 p.m. water had receded.
