Firefighters helped rescue a potbelly piglet that was stuck in a culvert for four days outside of Seymour.
Dawna June bought two 12-week-old pigs on Sunday but one escaped when she brought them home. She says it ran into a pipe under Highway 54. She says she tried several methods to get the pig out like leaving food and playing pig noises.
June called local humane societies and other groups before reaching out to the Seymour fire department. Crews tried to pour water into the culvert Thursday but the pig stayed inside. Then they put an exercise ball into the pipe and tried again. That pushed the pig out.
June says she’s naming the animal Phoenix because she “flew like the wind” when she ran away.
