Appleton’s leader believes the new state budget is a mixed bag for cities.
Mayor Tim Hanna says lawmakers did take some positive steps. He says increases in funding for local road construction and mass transit are helpful. He points out communities had to deal with cuts in those areas over the past decade.
But Hanna says the amount of money that comes back to communities to help fund their day-to-day operations is staying flat. It’s called “shared revenue” and he doesn’t expect the situation to change anytime soon.
