ThedaCare is partnering with Fox Valley Technical College to run a special program to train new medical assistants.
Barb Tuchscherer is the chair of the Allied Health Department at the school. She says it gives ThedaCare-affiliated workers a chance to move up into a job that’s in demand. She says they continue full-time employment until the last five-and-a-half weeks. She says they then go into a clinic training for 40 hours a week.
The workers can stay at that clinic when they graduate. The program lasts about 18 months and the first group will be done in about a year.
The state Department of Workforce Development is giving ThedaCare a $50,000 grant.
