Appleton’s mayor is making the city’s offer to U.S. Venture public, at the same time the company is exploring other possibilities for its headquarters.
The two sides have been negotiating for a couple of years.
Mayor Tim Hanna says the city is willing to put in $40 million to help build a public parking ramp and provide TIF incentives.
U.S. Venture released a statement, calling the mayor’s comments encouraging.
Hanna thinks the company wants to be in the downtown because the location, with other nearby activities, would help attract and add employees.
Hanna says the city can handle the $40 million amount without having to use general property tax dollars. U.S. Venture says that sounds generous, but the offer the company received last month wouldn’t give them $40 million.
U.S. Venture also says it’s looking at options, including in other communities.
