An Appleton woman convicted of child neglect in the death of her daughter will spend 17 years in prison.
Thirty-nine-year-old Nicole Gussert pleaded no contest to that charge, and one for having meth. Her 13-year-old daughter, Brianna, died in May of 2017 in their home in the 800 block of W. Winnebago Street. The girl was developmentally disabled.
Prosecutors say Gussert couldn’t remember the last time she fed Brianna, or changed her diaper.
Gussert entered her pleas in February of last year, and then tried to withdraw them last fall. Her attorney later dropped the request.
Gussert was also sentenced to 12 years on probation.
