The former head of the Boldt Company in Appleton died this morning from natural causes.
Oscar Boldt was 96.
He became the third-generation to run the construction company in 1950. He was the CEO through 1998, and he helped grow the company nationally.
Senior Executive Jim Rossmeissl thinks there are several reasons for Boldt’s success, including his push to build up the futures of the company’s employees. He implemented an employee ownership program.
Boldt now has 14 offices in the U.S., and topped $1 billion in revenue for the first time, a few years ago.
Rossmeissel says the company was worth about $100,000 when Oscar Boldt took over.
He was also a major philanthropist in the Fox Cities community.
His son, Tom, is the fourth-generation CEO.
