A man is dead following a weekend shooting in Appleton.
Police say the incident started with the report of an intruder at a home in the 2800 block of East Newberry Street around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. The caller reported being in a bedroom with the door locked and could hear an unknown man inside the home yelling.
Officers arrived to find a man with gunshot wounds. He later died at a hospital. No residents of the home were hurt. Police say it doesn’t appear the homeowners and intruder knew each other.
