A March 21st trial date is set in a lawsuit filed by Walmart against the city of Neenah. The retailer is suing to have several of its past property tax assessments lowered. Walmart is looking to take advantage of the so-called “big box loophole”–where courts have found that operating stores should be assessed at the same value of similar buildings that are sitting vacant. Walmart is looking for property tax refunds dating back to 2018. It has similar lawsuits pending against the city of Oshkosh as well.
