JUNEAU, Wis–The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is warning of an in-person version of the “grandparents scam”. A resident reported getting a call from a man in early May from a man that claimed to be her grandson, who was in jail and needed bail money.
A second call came from a man claiming to be the grandson’s attorney, telling the victim to wrap the money in a certain way and give it to a ride-share driver who would be coming to her house. The woman gave an undisclosed amount of cash to the scammer.
