Step Afrika!, a high-energy African American dance company, is coming to the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center on October 3.
If you attend the show, you can expect to experience the tradition of stepping through percussive dance styles, traditional African dances, and contemporary dance art forms. The show will begin at 7:30 pm.
Step Afrika employs 13 full-time dancers, many of whom have attended Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and are members of Historically Black Greek Fraternities and Sororities, according to their website. The group was founded in 1994 by C. Brian Williams and is the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. They tour more than 60 countries across the globe, and now rank as one of the top ten African-American dance companies in the U.S.
The dance group blends percussive dance styles which have been historically practiced by African American fraternities and sororities, with traditional African dance, as well as some contemporary dance and art forms. You can expect to experience not only a dance show, but also some storytelling, humor, and audience participation.
Get your tickets to the show today and get ready to enjoy a great energetic and unique performance!
