APPLETON, Wis–The Appleton Public Library is moving again. The library had found a temporary home in the former Best Buy building along South Kensington Drive, but the owner of the building has found a new tenant willing to pay market-rate rent. The current lease terminates at the end of the year.
Mayor Jake Woodford announces that the city is entering into a partnership with the Thompson Center on Lourdes to help finance a renovation of the former Habitat for Humanity Restore on East College Avenue, which will become the temporary home of the library early next year, with the Thompson Center moving in after the library returns to its downtown location in 2025.
The city will use a million dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funds to pay for the project. More details on the agreement will be released later this week.
