TOWN OF CALEDONIA, Wis. — One person is dead — another is in custody — following a fatal crash in Waupaca County.
The sheriff’s office says a pedestrian was struck by a passing vehicle along County Highway W in the town of Caledonia late Saturday night. The pedestrian was helping another driver along the side of the road.
The vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene but was located a short time later. The driver was arrested.
Investigators say alcohol was a factor in that crash.
