Cinnamon Ornaments
- 1 cup cinnamon
- ¾ c applesauce
- 1 T nutmeg
- 1 T cloves
- 2 T white glue (Elmer’s)
Combine all ingredients with your hands. Divide dough in half. Roll out on cinnamon dusted surface. If dough crack when rolled out, add more applesauce. If dough is too soft, add more cinnamon. Cut out with cookie cutters and punch a hole into top for ribbon. Let dry 5 to 7 days on cookie sheet. Do not roll dough out too thin or ornaments will curl as they dry.
Brenda’s Easy Saltine Toffee
1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- Saltine Crackers (1-2 sleeves)
- 1 ½ cups chocolate chips
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Nuts (optional – pecans, almonds, walnuts)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bring butter and brown sugar to a boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp. vanilla. Line a jelly roll pan with aluminum foil and spray with a non-stick spray. Line foil with saltines. Pour the butter/brown sugar mixture over crackers and bake for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let chocolate melt and then smooth out. Sprinkle your choice of nuts on top. When cool, remove the foil from pan and break into pieces.
