WEYAUWEGA, Wis–A roadside zoo in Weyauwega is cited again for keeping animals in poor conditions. The U-S Department of Agriculture conducted an inspection at Animal Haven Zoo back in September. A report claims that multiple animals were found with untreated medical conditions.
Birds had excessive feather loss, crust on their feet, and eye injuries. Rats were found in some of the animal enclosures, fences were broken, and a bear was spotted eating meat with maggots on it.
Many of the violations are repeats from previous inspections. Owner Dawn Hofferber was ordered to correct all of those situations by the end of last October.
