SHAWANO, Wis–A controversial former Shawano County campground owner will spend a year in jail for leading police on a high-speed chase, and skipping out on her court dates. Ann Retzlaff is also fined $1,700 for Fleeing an Officer, Reckless Endangerment, and Bail Jumping.
Retzlaff refused to stop for sheriff’s deputies in Menominee and Shawano County back in May of 2021, claiming that she was “rescuing” a victim of human trafficking. She also refused to attend court dates, claiming that she is a “sovereign citizen”, and not under the jurisdiction of local law enforcement.
Retzlaff still faces charges of Slander of Title in Sauk County, after allegedly placing fake liens on the properties of those involved in the foreclosure and re-sale of her Annie’s Campground.
