APPLETON, Wis. — The Appleton Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a home early Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to N. Applebend Drive just after noon for a report of smoke coming from the garage of a single-story home. They arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the structure and had the blaze under control within 20 minutes.
Damage is estimated at $150,000 to the house and contents. No one was home at the time of the fire.
A bystander rescued a dog inside the home.
