APPLETON, Wis. — It brought me such joy to talk with explorer and adventurer, Peter Hillary this week.

Peter Hillary in the Himalayas (Fox Cities PAC)
He’s at the Fox Cities PAC on February 11 as part of the Viewpoint Speaker Series. His presentation, “70 Years of Everest: Peter Hillary,” will feature authentic, spine-tingling, often hilarious stories about what it takes to travel to the ends of the Earth from a member of one of the great mountaineering families.
He’ll share about what led him to summit Everest, survive avalanches, ski to the South Pole, and live a life of philanthropy.
During his time on Focus Fox Valley we learned about his travels as a child and how it impacted him throughout his lifetime. I asked Peter what his advice would be for families looking to travel with their little ones.
“Just the experiences you can share with your kids,” Peter shared. “The reality is, if you don’t get together and go and do stuff, you very often wont spend that much time together or give yourself enough time to have those good conversations and connections. Organizing adventures or journeys is a really important thing to do.”

Peter went on to talk about his first summit of Mount Everest in 1990, where he and Sir Edmund Hillary became the first father and son to achieve the feat.
Tune into the interview below to learn what Peter still has left on his travel bucket list…
