OSHKOSH, Wis–Bitcoin automated teller machines will feature warning signs in Winnebago County. Local law enforcement are working together to post information on the signs of scams on those ATMs.
The departments say scammers are instructing victims to deposit cash into the machines and then scan a Q-R code allowing the criminal to deposit the crypto-currency in a digital wallet in a nearly untraceable way. Many of the victims are not familiar with how Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies work.
