So, how’s your sleep week going? 6-5-25
Do you sleep with any sort of white noise help? I do, but my assistant for over 20 years may be in its final days.
I have been using a very small fan, no bigger than a fair-sized hardcover book, for over 20 years to help drown out planes, trains, kids and windy nights. Comes with the territory when you head to bed as early as I do, with a wake up call that comes about 2:15a. It can be very tough to get to sleep when the birds are still chirping, soccer balls are thumping and most “normal” people don’t go to bed for a few hours! Hence, my issue with my fan.
A few weeks ago, we had to make a road trip to N.D. to assist my Mom with some issues. While carrying numerous items on the way to our hotel room….I dropped the fan. My buddy snapped in half at the base, with wiring the only thing that keeps it as a one-piece air pusher. I was crushed.
This fan has religiously cranked out a small amount of air but also the right amount of white noise for probably 22, 23 years. I have reveled in the fact that it HAS NOT died by now! Oh, and yes, it still works, but my duct-tape fix-it has given it a sad, droopy look. I know…a new fan will cost but a pittance. But, there’s a silly attachment to this gangly fan that’s pushed on through the darkness for decades.
I’m still contemplating where to bury it….
