OSHKOSH, Wis. — Drivers in downtown Oshkosh will have to find alternate routes across the Fox River after Labor Day weekend.
The Main Street Bridge which carries U.S. Highway 45 traffic over the river will be closed for reconstruction work starting Sept. 2. That includes rehabilitation of the drawbridge’s electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
Project Construction Leader Erik Hendrickson explains how traffic will be impacted.
Brad Deiner with Lunda Construction says boaters won’t initially affected by construction work.
WIS-DOT Communications Director Mark Kantola says free permits are available online for businesses looking to put up directional signs. But there are regulations to follow for safety’s sake.
The Main Street Bridge is expected to reopen to downtown Oshkosh traffic in April 2026.
