MARINETTE, Wis. — A Marinette man is now charged in the drowning death of a 13-year-old boy on Aug. 20.
Tylor Birch, 21, is charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the death of Jakob Bowerman.
Birch is being held on a $500,000 cash bond in that case.
According to a criminal complaint, Birch, another boy identified only as P.C. and Bowerman were at the Menekaunee Harbor Boat Launch when Birch and P.C. allegedly grabbed Bowerman by the feet and hands and threw him into the Menominee River. That was despite knowing Bowerman could not swim.
Rescuers were unable to resuscitate Bowerman.
Tylor Birch is back in court on Sept. 22. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
