APPLETON, Wis. — The Appleton Area School District is seeing early success in efforts to decrease chronic absenteeism and truancy.
Superintendent Greg Hartjes says the first semester ended with some of the lowest numbers in years………..
Last year, the city of Appleton reinstated a truancy ordinance that would ticket students who refuse to work with the district on improving their attendance.
Hartjes says just one citation has been issued so far.
