TOWN OF MAPLE GROVE, Wis. — The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent case of animal cruelty involving a dog found with apparent gunshots wounds.
The brown, mixed-breed dog was found Wednesday near Cedar Drive and Maple Road in the town of Maple Grove.
Staff at Specialized Veterinary Care say the dog, which has been nicknamed “Sunny,” sustained eight gunshot wounds, a broken leg and other traumatic injuries. Those likely occurred two-to-four days before he was found.
Sunny did have a microchip registered to an out-of-state owner. No word on the potential owner is being released at this time.
Sunny will undergo additional medical treatment. The Shawano County Humane Society is accepting donations for his treatment.
