WAUPACA, Wis. — Criminal charges are filed in connection with a fatal fire in New London.
Rodolfo Gonzalez is facing counts of first-degree intentional homicide, reckless endangerment, arson, and mutilating a corpse.
Gonzalez allegedly stabbed his mother to death in a Division Street complex on Sunday, poured cat litter on her head and set it on fire.
Gonzalez was found to be not mentally competent in an attempted murder case in Outagamie County Court earlier this year. In that case, he was accused of attacking his mother and another man in New London with a rock and a knife back in February of 2025. He was released from custody in May on the condition of seeking treatment and cooperating with evaluations.
If convicted on the Waupaca County charges, Gonzalez would face life in prison.
