APPLETON, Wis–Teachers in the Appleton Area School District may return to the classrooms without a new compensation plan in place. The district and the teachers’ union are at an impasse on a new deal.
The district is offering an increase of more than 2.7% in total compensation next year.

Act 10 allows school boards to impose a qualifying offer anyway, but board members like Oliver Zornow are not comfortable with that process……..
Superintendent Greg Harjes points out that the package increases overall teacher compensation by more than the School Board originally authorized……..
The Appleton Area School Board will try again next Monday night to approve the teacher pay package.
