LA CROSSE, Wis–Prosecutors will not charge Elon Musk with election fraud in Wisconsin. La Crosse County District Attorney Tim Gruenke says he doubts a jury would be convinced that Musk’s offering of a million dollars to two people at a political rally in Green Bay back in March represented a bribe for votes.
Gruenke points out that Musk put up two social media posts before that rally, the first saying money would be given for “taking the time to vote”. The second stated the money would go to people willing to be “spokesmen for the petition” against what he called “activist judges” in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race.
The state Elections Commission found there was probable cause to believe that Musk committed election fraud and offered bribes at that rally and forwarded a complaint to the Brown County District Attorney David Lasee (luh-say). Lasee turned over the case to Gruenke, citing a potential conflict of interest.
